For the 2018 Ghent light festival, the city of Ghent asked Nerdlab to organize a projection mapping contest. The winner of this content would receive an official place to showcase their submission and technical guidance to one-up their work for the festival.
Nerdlab asked me to design a projection mapping object which would inspire and challenge all contestants. In a lowpoly fashion, I came up with the design for a tree, consisting of 60 faces and towering almost 6m tall. The tree was constructed by Nerdlab and templates where provided for the competition.
The winner, Adriaan Debergh, created an amazing steampunk animation consisting of various musical instruments, playing in sync with self composed music.
