Stepping into PAARL Handbags in december 2017 was the start of an extraordinary collaboration. Pearl De Buck handcrafts handbags that are both striking and always unique. She have me the opportunity to use her shop window as a canvas. One of her design -PRISMA- inspired me to create an installation which would showcase the visible spectrum, the breaking of light as done by a prism. The installation highlighted two of her designs, which formed the centerpiece of the experience.
The construction uses the SABER light fixture system consisted of six tubes forming two large triangles counting 858 individually controllable LEDS each. This was driven by MadMapper and an Advatek pixlite 16 controller.
The installation was visible at night throughout the 2018 Ghent light festival.
Can't get enough? Me neither!
